The power is mostly used for metering, providing protection to circuits which are of higher voltage, electrostatic industrial appliances and in scientific applications. Since it has the ability to set up primary voltage into a higher voltage it is also referred to be as a power transformer.

It is also useful in transformers like isolation, step up and step down, network of telephone, medical application, in measurement tools, industrial controls, audio systems, music reproduction system, etc.
